NOTE - The areas in Kent of ROLVENDEN, TENTERDEN & BENENDEN are close to each other Pheobe's shipping record shows a birthday of 18.8.1803, but her death certificate says she was 55 years old when she died in 1852 (ie b. 1797) Emigrated to Australia on ship 'CORNWALL' arriving 1.9.1839, as assisted immigrants Both could read and write, and Protestants. John was employed by R Jones, Esquire at twenty-five pounds per year plus rations. 4 children came with them on the trip, 2 others born in Australia. John's death certificate indicates he had 11 children, they definity had only 2 born in Australia, therefore 5 others either died in infancy or stayed in England. Some may have been old enough to be married & that could be why they stayed in England. Who knows? John, Pheobe & their children went to live at 'Fleurs', Mamre Road, South Creek (now Erskine Park). 'Fleurs' is no longer there.
John married Phoebe Harden. (Phoebe Harden was born on 18 Aug 1803 and died on 20 Nov 1852.)
